Nauru Ocean Resources Inc (NORI) in accordance with its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules is offering one (1) scholarship for a master’s degree Programme in Marine Management, Biology, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Earth Sciences, Geosciences or Geology for a developing State national starting in January 2022.

The NORI Scholarship will cover the direct costs required to complete a Master’s Programme at the Fiji campus of the University of the South Pacific (USP), including tuition, accommodations, roundtrip economy class airfare and a living allowance. The Master Programme at USP typically takes 12-18 months to complete. In addition to financial support, the Scholarship recipient will be offered access to NORI’s resources which may include access to offshore opportunities and staff if these can assist with the recipient’s studies.

Marawa Research and Exploration Ltd. is pleased to offer two (2) undergraduate scholarships to Developing States candidates with an interest in the deepsea minerals industry. The scholarship is open to students wishing to pursue studies in marine science, geology or engineering. Candidates must clearly articulate their interest in the seafloor minerals industry, preferably polymetallic nodules and how their selected degree will allow them to contribute to the seafloor minerals industry in the future.

The three-year undergraduate degree will be offered through the University of the South Pacific https://www.usp.ac.fj and will start in January 2022.

Applications are now open for two at-sea training opportunities for candidates from developing States members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The placements are provided by Marawa Research and Exploration Ltd (Kiribati), in accordance with its obligations under its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with ISA.

The offshore environmental campaign will be conducted in partnership with Nauru Ocean Resources Inc (NORI) in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean. It is expected to depart from the port of San Diego (USA) on 20 June 2021 for a duration of three weeks.

Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the training will be conducted virtually during the fourth quarter of 2020 (second half of October – first half of November) under the programme β€œStudy and development of mineral resources of the oceans - Exploration and exploitation of the mineral resources of the Ocean β€ through the virtual platform of the St. Petersburg State University. The training will involve two lectures a day for approximately 1.5 hours each over a two-week period. Upon successful selection more information concerning admission and course outline will be provided.
